Oil Firing Technical Association

The role of OFTEC is to drive innovation in the liquid fuel heating industry and within complementary renewable technologies, and to deliver solutions for our members and customers. The association’s core values are; Integrity; Support for Customers & Technicians; Pride and Passion to be the Best; Environmental Awareness; Creativity and Competence.

All Eco Group Oil Technicians and Subcontractors are registered with OFTEC.


Gas Safe Register

Gas Safe Register is run by Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Limited, a division of Capita Group Plc and is the official gas registration body for Great Britain and the Isle of Man. Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI as the gas registration body on 1st April 2009.

All Eco Group Gas Technicians and Subcontractors are registered with GAS SAFE.


Construction Skills

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is the industry’s largest scheme and covers 220 occupations including trades, technical, supervisory and management.

All Eco Group Employees have achieved appropriate certification levels.

Renewable Energy Assurance Scheme (REAL)
The role of the (REAL) assurance scheme is to bring information, confidence and reassurance to anyone wishing to buy or lease a micro heat or power generation unit for their home, community or small business. The units can be fuelled from renewable or other sources. “REAL” Members are firms selling or leasing renewable or other micro heat or power generation unit who abide by the REAL Assurance Scheme Consumer Code. This code is in the process of being approved by the Office of Fair Trading as part of its self-regulation initiative.

The Consumer Code and our set of Consumer Guidelines are designed to help you get advice on generation solutions without any negative marketing/sales tactics, and to ensure a strong consumer experience before, during and after a contract is agreed.

Eco Coil Heating Ltd, part of the Eco Group is a member of the Renewable Energy Assurance Scheme (REAL).


Ground Source Heat Pump Association
The Associations function is to serve as a focal point for organisations with business interests in the Ground Source Heat Pump industry. The Association shares best practice, develops and disseminates industry approved technical standards, training criteria and codes of practice; It promotes the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and technical competence within the Ground Source Energy Industry to ensure consumer confidence; It represents the Ground Source Heating & Cooling industry, promoting sustainable use of the technology and engaging with government and other bodies to influence relevant policymaking.

All members are expected to abide by a Code of Ethical Practice - backed up by a disciplinary procedure. Members are promoted as the best choice for ground source heat services and it is hoped they will enjoy a sense of co-operation with others involved in the implementation of solutions to global warming and resource depletion.

Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent scheme that certifies micro generation products and installers against set criteria. MCS has support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change. The Scheme has become a mark of professionalism and quality within the micro renewable industry. The use of accredited products and installers is important as most grant funding is conditional upon both installer and product accreditation.

Eco Coil Heating Ltd, part of the Eco Group’s products are accredited and utilise “third party accreditation control” to undertake and commission all certifiable works.


Association of Building Engineers (abe)
The Association of Building Engineers (abe) has permitted all Eco Group Companies to display the Associations logo on its stationery and company documentation. This is in recognition of The Eco Group meeting the ethical standard required by the Association for organisations operating in the field of Building Engineering.

Approved Installer:

Eco Coil Heating Ltd, part of the Eco Group established strategic partners at a very early stage in their operational development to ensure the range of products installed were of the highest technical standard. Following an extensive evaluation exercise, Eco Coil Heating Ltd selected Danfoss for domestic Heat Pumps; DeLonghi for commercial Heat Pumps, REHAU and Polypipe for Under Floor Heating Systems and Windhager for Solar Panels.

Eco Coil Heating Ltd procure Water Well products from GRC AquaTech. All of Eco Coil Heating Ltd’s strategic partners provide ongoing training and support to Eco Coil Heating personnel to the appropriate accredited product standard, ensuring Eco Coil Heating Ltd maintain their position at the forefront of micro renewable energy and water management technologies.

Stephen Craig
Managing Director
who is currently in his early forties has over 25 years extensive experience in the construction industry, fifteen of those years at the highest level in the retail plumbing, bathroom and kitchens design and installation market. Stephen, is the drive behind the Eco Group, our turnkey approach; our customer commitment, our look and drive for perfection is Stephen’s vision of a fully customer focussed organisation. Stephen’s vision was honed from years of customer interaction. It is often said that Stephen is  the Eco Group.  

Conal Gallagher
Commercial Director and Company Secretary

shares his time between the Eco Group and other voluntary work, having retired early after a 30 year career in public service. Conal who is in his mid forties has spent his entire working life in Asset Management. The last 17 years of his career was spent at the highest possible level. Conal combined his working career with his passion for learning culminating in the award of three senior Post Graduate Degrees. Conal, a Fellow of the Association of Building Engineers is General Secretary of the Association in Scotland and is currently working towards Chartered Environmentalist status.

Maurice Craig
Operations Director
who is also in his early forties has gained a formidable technical reputation from a life time working in the Plumbing and Heating industry. Maurice is certified by gas safe, OFTEC, he holds water bylaws accreditation, and approvals from Danfoss, REHAU, Polypipe, DeLongi and Windhager allowing him to oversee the installation of their full range of sustainable construction products. Maurice’s role is very much hands on with day to day responsibility for onsite activity.
