Arched Windows

This was part of a wider project of a refurbishment and repurposing of a School in the east end of Glasgow.

All the windows except these and another 5 were replaced with new but these windows on the stairwells were to be retained and refurbished. They were found in a fairly poor state and being over 5m tall they are one of the largest windows we have ever worked on.

We removed the sashes from site and brought them back to the workshop to refurbish them and the case were refurbished onsite.

In the workshop all the glass, putty and paint were removed to reveal the work we had to do. Many the feathers on the astragals and some astragals had to be fully replaced. Once we had completed that and tightened up all the joints the sashes were sprayed in the workshop and fully reglazed.

Once back onsite they were reinstalled into the cases fully finished then sandmastic applied to the perimeter.
